popular journeys is the 48 hour Cape Town to
Pretoria Old Pioneering Trail. As well

The Ghan,

The Ghan is one of
Australia's most famous trains and now
covers almost 3000 kms. The train was
named after the Afghans who, with their
camels, helped open up the inhospitable
desert on the Adelaide to Alice Springs
section over 150 years ago. The Ghan
operates between Darwin and Adelaide in both
directions, takes 2 nights and travels
through the Red Centre. Marvel at the
spectacular landscapes; from the fertile
countryside surrounding Adelaide to the
rusty reds of the MacDonnell Ranges around
Alice Springs, gateway to Uluru and the Red
Centre and then north to Tennant Creek,
Katherine and the tropical splendour of
