| Colombo &
Kandy 3 Nights / 4
Days |
| Day 1:
On arrival transfer from the airport to Colombo.
In the afternoon take a city tour. See the
ancient clock Tower and colonial buildings,
Pettah Bazaar excellent for bargains, the old
Parliament, a Hindu and a Buddhist temple.
There is also plenty of free time to shop.

Day 2: After
breakfast you will be driven to Kandy.
En-route visit the elephant orphanage in
Pinnawala. This orphanage is home for
about 60 elephants. Visit during feeding
times, when there is the opportunity to see the
baby elephants being bottle-fed and having their
daily bath. Continue from Pinnawala to
Kandy and check-in to your hotel. In the
afternoon is a city tour. |
| Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan
kings. Here, many of the legends, traditions and
folklore are still lovingly kept alive.
Drive around Kandy Lake and visit the town,
bazaar, the arts and crafts centre, a gem museum
and a lapidary. In the evening visit the
Temple of the Tooth Relic and after, a cultural
show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing.

Following breakfast return to Colombo, en-route
visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, home to
an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers.
Evening at leisure. Overnight in Colombo. |
| Day 4: After
breakfast transfer to the airport. |

| Day 1:
On arrival transfer from the airport to
Kandalama and check into your hotel. In
the evening take an elephant-back safari.
This excursion takes you along one of the most
picturesque routes through the jungle.

| Day 2:
After breakfast drive to Polonnaruwa. Here
you will see the ruins of the Royal Palace; the
Gal Vihara - where statues of the Buddha in
'Upright', 'Sedentary' and 'Recumbent' postures
are carved out of rock; the Audience Hall; the
Lotus Bath; King Pararamabahu's statue and the
Parakrama Samudraya lake. There are also
monuments of famous places of worship including
the Kiri Vehara and the remains of a former
Temple of the Tooth Relic. |

Continue to
Sigiriya and climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock
fortress built 477-495 AD. The 'Lion
Rock' is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200
metres from the scrub jungle. The rock was
the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare
fortified town. A moat, rampart and
extensive gardens including the renowned water
gardens ring the base of the rock. See the
world-renowned frescoes of the 'Heavenly
Maidens' of Sigiriya which are in a sheltered
pocket of the rock approached by a spiral
stairway. Overnight in Dambulla.

| Day 3:
After breakfast drive to Kandy, en-route visit a
spice garden where you will be introduced to
different spices and shown how some of these are
grown and processed. In the afternoon take
a city tour of the last capital of the Sri
Lankan kings. Drive around Kandy Lake,
visit the town and bazaar, the arts and crafts
centre, a gem museum and a lapidary. In
the evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic
and see a cultural show featuring traditional
Sri Lankan dancing. Overnight in Kandy.

| Day 4: After

amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers.

breakfast leave for the airport.

| Day 2:
After breakfast drive to Polonnaruwa for a city
tour. Visit the Royal Palace, the Gal
Vihara (statures of Buddha), the Lotus bath and
the 12th century Polonnaruwa Statue. Drive
on to Sigiriya and climb the rock fortress and
see the remains of the palace and the famous
frescoes. Overnight in Dambulla. |
| Day 3:
After breakfast visit the Dambulla Rock Temple,
built in the 1st century BC. Dambulla is a
world heritage site and is the most impressive
of Sri Lanka's cave temples. The complex
has 5 caves with painted walls and ceilings.
The caves contain 150 Buddha images, the largest
a colossal figure carved out of rock spanning 14
metres. In the evening take an elephant
back safari. This excursion takes you
along one of the most picturesque routes through
the jungle. Overnight in Dambulla.

| Day 4:
After breakfast drive to Kandy en-route visiting

Day 5:
After breakfast drive to Nuwara Eliya en-route
visiting the Royal Botanical Gardens in
Peradeniya, home to some 4000 species of plants
and trees. Also visit a tea factory and
estate. The afternoon is at leisure.

| Day 6:
Following breakfast return to Colombo via
Kitulgala, passing two water falls en-route.
In the afternoon take a city tour of Colombo
including visits to both a Hindu and Buddhist
Temples, Pettah and Fort areas, the Parliament
and Colombo museum. Overnight in Colombo. |
| Day 7: After
breakfast leave for the airport. |
