Situated only
4˚ off the
equator and quite literally 1000 miles from
anywhere. 115 outstandingly beautiful
granite and coral islands lie in the Indian
Ocean. The main islands boast miles of
white coral beaches, their fringes lapped by
the gentle waves of warm turquoise waters.
Tall Takmanka trees line most beaches and
the year round temperatures rarely fall
below 24˚C. Conditions for scuba
divers and snorkellers are perfect as 1000
different species of coral and some 900
species of colourful fish make the
Seychelles their home. Above the water
line, there is water skiing and windsurfing
or your can simply 'mess about' in boats.
Serious fishermen are attracted to the big
thrills supplied by trying to our-smart
marline, yellowfin and dog tooth tuna.
On land, the flora and fauna provide an
endless exotic spectacle and backdrop. |

Take time to visit
bustling Market Street in the capital, Victoria on the largest island
Mahe, and the Morne Seychelles National Park and a short
boat trip away is Ste Anne Marine National Park. On Preslin,
the second largest island, see black parrots and the twin-nut sea coconut palms
(coco de mer). La Digue offers vanilla plantations,
the rare paradise flycatchers and oxcart transportation and on
Bird Island there are thousands of Sooty and Fairy terns.
