1200 tiny, sun
soaked islands gleaming in the Indian Ocean
form the Maldives. However, only
around 200 of them are inhabited. Each
of these sits in its own shallow lagoon,
formed by the encircling coral reefs.
The Maldives offer the perfect 'Escape',
scuba divers, snorkellers and water sports
enthusiasts are in their element here, as
are sun worshippers and those who just want
to relax in idyllic surroundings.

Whilst on
many of the islands the accommodation is very comfortable often in
chalets nestled amongst lush vegetation or in bungalows built out over
the sea, on others it is simple and a true Robinson Crusoe experience!
Life here is slow peaceful and simple - a far cry from the hustle and
bustle of the modern world. Work on your suntan, swim, sail,
water-ski, snorkel or dive. The Maldives is a marine paradise.
Evenings are usually informal, a drink at the bar, perhaps with a local
band to entertain you, a stroll along the starlit beach or a night out
fishing.
A holiday in the Maldives is the
perfect way to wind down, ask about our selection of spa resorts or
about combining the Maldives with Sri Lanka for a two-centre holiday. |

While the
Maldives certainly
have some gorgeous reefs, it's the fish life
that makes them an outstanding dive
destination. There are three
distinctly different types of diving: inside
the atolls, outside the atolls and inside
the channels or passes, which is where the
currents are strongest and you find the
greatest congregation of fish. The big
attraction, however, are the schools of fish
that patrol the reefs in colourful packs
these include: Humpback and Black and White
Snappers, Barracuda, Batfish and Yellowback
Fusiliers. This awesome marine life
combines with exquisite coral covered
backdrops to create some of the world's most
exciting dives.
Dive sites in the Maldives are widely
scattered, this means hotel based clients
may only have access to a limited number of
spots. However, beautifully coloured
fish life can be found in very shallow reefs
making the Maldives one of the best places
for fish photography and snorkelling.
