Welcome
to
Lebanon

A land of truly amazing contrasts stretching along the coast of the Mediterranean for some 250 kilometers.  With the Cedar Mountains, fertile plains, Islamic architecture, ancient sites from Phoenician, Greek and Roman times, snow skiing in the mountains and water skiing on the coast, together with a lively night life, traditional souks and excellent restaurants, Lebanon with its kindly climate, has all the ingredients for a perfect holiday.

Beirut, once called the 'Paris of the East' due to the opulence of the city, is the capital of Lebanon.  Pigeon Rocks are the most famous natural feature of the city, these offshore rock arches are a lovely compliment to the dramatic sea cliffs, also wandering the corniche and the old souks is a must for any visitor.

Byblos, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, dating back some 5000 years, was a flourishing port in Phoenician times and the site of a crusader castle and church, it has a historic harbour as well as some Byzantine ruins.

Tripoli, with its narrow alleys, souks and Mameluk architecture retains an air of special Arabic charm, complemented by its slow pace of life and friendly people.

Baalbeck is home to the acropolis, one of the largest in the world with two temples, two courtyards and an enclosure.  The temples of Jupiter, Bacchus and Venus all bear testimony to the time when the Romans held this city as the centre of their Syrian Empire.
