the most glamorous and beautiful. It has splendid museums, art
galleries, restaurants and nightlife and is where haute cuisine and
haute couture mix comfortably with the avant garde. Take a
romantic boat cruise on the Seine River or visit the Mona Lisa at the
world famous Louvre. Walk down the Champs Elysees or
experience the magic of the Eiffel tower.
Just outside Paris is the Chateau of Versaille. Wanting to escape
the busy life in Paris, and to keep the nobility under his control,
Louis XIV wanted the chateau to set up home in and install the
government. Started in 1664 the Chateau was completed shortly
before the King's death in 1715. The surrounding park is large and
includes formal and informal gardens, for those who prefer not to walk
or have limited time, a small train shuttles between the terrace front
of the Chateau and the Trianons.
